April 22 (SeeNews) - Romania's transport and infrastructure minister Sorin Grindeanu said that an 82 million euro ($87.4 million) Roll-On, Roll-Off (RoRo) terminal jointly developed by Emirati logistics company DP World and the Constanta Port Administration will be inaugurated on May 15.
"We wish to extend our cooperation with the Emirati partners for the Port of Constanta," Grindeanu said in a social media post on Friday.
The transport ministry is seeking to secure funding for the further expansion of the port, aiming to reduce loading and unloading times for ships, increase storage capacity and extend the road and rail network, he added.
"The Port of Constanta has become the most important Black Sea hub for the distribution of goods for Central and Eastern Europe. The development of its capacity is absolutely necessary to strengthen its key role of a logistics platform in the perspective of the recovery and reconstruction of Ukraine," Romanian prime minister Marcel Ciolacu said in a separate social media post on Friday.
